Shillong Teer is the original of the two games — the Khasi archery tradition turned daily draw, shot at Polo Ground in the heart of Shillong under the Khasi Hills Archery Sports Association. Its first round declares at 3:45 PM and the second at 4:45 PM, half an hour ahead of Khanapara, which makes Shillong the opening act of every teer afternoon.

The game descends from the traditional Khasi wager known as thoh tim, and the modern format keeps its character: dozens of archery clubs send bowmen to the ground, each round's quota of arrows is shot at a cylindrical target, and the public count of arrows on target produces the two-digit result. It is a licensed, regulated activity in Meghalaya, run in the open rather than behind a screen.

Shillong's main round plays Monday to Saturday and rests on Sunday. Many followers treat the Shillong figure as the reference number of the day — it comes first, the crowd at Polo Ground is the largest, and the game's chart stretches back further than any other in the region.
